COSMIC OBJECTIVES AND RESULTS

OBJECTIVES

COSMIC proposes a novel technological approach for the detection of CBRNE materials hidden in shipping containers.

The COSMIC project includes the research, design and implementation of a three-stage (primary, secondary, focused manual inspection) detection system, using a new set of innovative sensors in all three stages.

 

Two radically new developments are therefore planned in the COSMIC project:

The COSMIC technique is based on three stages: Primary, Secondary and focused inspections, all managed by system analytics.
COSMIC three-stage solution optimized for fast and reliable detection of CBRNE threats in shipping containers.

COSMIC innovative CBRNE sensors:

COSMIC innovative sensors includes new innovative chemical and explosives sensors for both primary and secondary stages, biological sensors capable to analyze biological threats (bacteria and viruses) at the field and new approach in primary and secondary for detection of shielded nuclear and radioactive materials using Cosmic Rays Muons sensor.

RESULTS

COSMIC results will be published during the project. The COSMIC partners will participate in professional conferences to present the project and its results to opinion leaders, academic institutes, standardization and regulation bodies.
Results from the field trials will be published toward the end of the project.
